Report from George Redpath
A big cat, believed to be a lynx, which has been seen in various parts of North East Fife over the past few weeks appears to have extended its terriotory.
A Letham woman who saw a strange looking creature in the Howe of Fife last week believes it could have been the beast in question.
The lady, was driving to work very early on Wednesday morning last week along the minor road from Letham to Bow of Fife, when the creature ran out in front of her car.
I would never have believed it if I hadn't seen it for myself she said this week. It was about 4.30 a.m. and dawn was breaking when I saw what I thought was at first a fox. However the creature was larger than a fox, seemed to very dark in colour and had a thin tail. I got a fright, drew up and the animal just crossed in front of my car , jumped a wall and disappeared into the woods. It was definitely not a dog for it had cat-like movements.
The lady may not have been the only person to see something in the Bow of Fife area. She explained that her daughter had been talking to someone who said that they had seen a strange animal. She had kept quiet until she had heard someone else speak about it.
