Report from George Redpath
A reported sighting of a big cat in St Andrews at the weekend has not led to a major investigation, although the sighting could be linked to various other recent reports from the Newport and Wormit areas.
A St Andrews man is reported to have been confronted by a large cat in the Lamond Drive area when on his way home from a night out with his wife and friends.
He described the animal as being about the size of a Labrador dog, brown and black speckled and having pointed ears.
The reported St Andrews sighting follows reports of similar sightings of a large cat, possibly a Lynx, in the area around Newport and Wormit.
