Report from Chris Smith
I was interested in your newspaper report about big cats. I have over the last few years had sightings of two different cats.
The first was about 8 years ago. I was checking badger setts on a hill near Luthrie with 5 others when we saw what we thought was a large dog walking across a field. We all had binnoculars with us and zoomed in on this "dog". We were all gobsmacked to realise we were looking at a lynx or bobcat. We watched from our viewpoint which was at the top of a hill as it tried to stalk some rabbits in the valley below us. We watched for about 30 min as it made several tries to catch the rabbits but failed after a while it gave up and wandered off into nearby woods. We all had many years off experience in wildlife recording and watching and we were all 100% sure of what we had seen.
The second has been taking place in the area around where I stay in Ladybank Fife. My neighbours and I have had several sightings of a large black cat in the fields at the back of my house on one occasion it crossed the road in front of me when I was on my way to work at 5 30 am. If you want further information about our sightings you can email me or phone me.
