My final info came from an architect who I met some three years ago who told me about a fellow architect who lives on Corstorphine Hill near Edinburgh Zoo.
He had installed security lighting at the back of his house and on its first night was activated by badgers. He would leave food out and they became regular visitors.
Once when telling visitors about his visitors, the lights came on and they looked out expecting to see the badgers only to see a large black cat walk across the garden.
He phoned the police thinking it was an escapee from the nearby zoo. The police said they knew about it and it was not from the zoo and could he keep from telling people about it to prevent a panic.
Date unknown, I would think around 3 / 5 years ago. Sorry I can't be more specific about times/dates but I though you might be interested in the above.
