Report from George Redpath and Mike Inglis
Around 2 pm, on Thursday, 11 th April, 2002, three teenage youths were in the bedroom of their house in Pittenweem, when they looked out of a rear window and saw a huge black cat crossing a field to the rear of the house.
They watched the cat for about 10 minutes and attempted to photograph it from the open window. They describe the cat as being a "black panther", body length 1.5 metres with a tail of 1 metre.
They informed their father, a Police Officer who in turn contacted George Redpath.
