Report from Mark Fraser
Another report of a big wild cat has been passed on to us by Mark Fraser who is co-ordinating such sightings. The latest is of a 'tiger-like creature' seen near Newmilns. He says the witness would usually laugh off this sort of thing but responded immediately to the report in last weeks Standard of a large puma like animal seen on the Fenwick Moor.
The witness said: "I felt I had to tell somebody. I was walking my dog across a field which is situated directly behind Newmilns Ski-slope when I noticed what I thought was a black Labrador walking through a gap in a hedge into the next field next to Newmilns cemetery. I pursued this dog as I thought it was a stray but to my absolute astonishment I saw what I am 100% sure to be a tiger-like creature walking slowly across the field. At that stage I must admit I was slightly frightened by what I saw and my dog was not happy either. Ever since I have been trying to catch another glimpse and take its photograph."
Mark has not had time to investigate this sighting further. But he says many people see unusual animals but don't report them because they fear they will be made fun of.
Mark has established a web site about Ayrshire Big Cats. You'll find it at http://www.killie.totalserve.co.uk If you have spotted any large cats, Email Mark at MarkFraser@hauntedscotland.freeserve.co.uk.
