Report from Chris Smith
Residents of Ceres and Craigrothie are asked to keep their eyes peeled for an unidentified animal. A local man who prefers not to be named, was driving home with a friend in the early hours of the morning recently when he spotted what appeared to be a large fox or cat between the two villages.
On closer inspection, they found the animal to be slightly larger then they had originally thought.
"The animal was definitely too big to be a fox or a domestic cat - it was roughly the size of a spaniel," said the witness.
"My friend, who is a farmer, agreed that he had never seen an animal like it" He went on to say that it was too dark to pick out a precise colour for the animal, but he was 90% sure it was black. He said that the animal had no noticeable markings. The two men did not approach the police in the fear of not being believed.
A spokesman from Fife Constabulary said that there had been no reported sightings of any unidentified animals in the area since April.
Anyone who thinks they may have seen a strange animal in the area, should report any details to local police.
