16 sheep killed at Strathnaver

1976, Strathnaver, Sutherland
In 1976 crofters in the area began to notice unusual sheep and chicken losses. As one crofter told local policeman Keith Hart, it was usual to lose one or two sheep but he'd lost sixteen.
A number of people in the Strathnaver and Bettyhill areas reported sightings of a large black or dark brown cat-like animal.
