A Mr. Tomlinson of Oldham describes what he saw while on holiday on the Kirkcudbrightshire coast.
While staying at the Brighouse Bay caravan site in May, he said:
"I saw what I am convinced was a puma.
It was about 7-30 pm when I heard a commotion amongst a flock of sheep on top of the cliffs, I went to investigate as there was a lot of lambs about at the time, what I saw was a large cat about five feet, maybe more in length, with very sleek, fairly long hair and a rather bushy long tail.
It seemed to run very fast and was very agile, dodging around boulders and gorse bushes with a semi-crouching run.
I got to within fifty yards of the animal when it spotted me and made off at great speed."
