Collie sized cat seen by crofters

Winter 1975, Strathnaver, Sutherland.
In the winter a crofter and his wife were working on their land overlooking the River Raver one afternoon when they spotted a large cat-like animal about the size of a big collie dog. It came out of the woods on the west bank and swam across the river. They watched it for several minutes from a distance of about 200 yd.
