WILDLIFE experts want to bring the lynx back to the Highlands 1000 years after
it was hunted to extinction.
Studies have shown Highland forests offer a perfect habitat for the big cat.
Roy Dennis, director of the Highland Foundation for Wildlife, said: "There is
no reason why the lynx could not be reintroduced. Its principal prey in Europe
is roe deer and Scotland has some of the highest densities of them.
"At least 600 adult lynx could be accommodated."
