Large black cat causes traffic to brake suddenly at Troon

Date and Time: 9 th July 2003, 2.15pm
Location: Slip road from Loans onto A78 outside Troon.
Description: Black, approx 4 feet long, long tail. Beautiful.
Movement: Feline.
Noise: No
Duration: 3 seconds
Distance: 10 feet at same level.
Weather: Dry and bright with high cloud.

Additional: My wife and I were in our car about to join the A78 behind an old camper van. As we gained speed to go onto the dual carraige-way, the camper van started braking hard. As we also braked hard behind I spotted the reason for this near accident as a very large black cat doubled back into the long grass at the side of the road on the left and dissappeared from view.
