Report from Chris Smith
Two North-east women had a close encounter of the furred kind.
Phyllis Morrison and Loretta Walker came face-to-face with the
"Parkhill Panther".
It is the second known sighting of the mystery big cat in the past two
months.
And it comes hard on the heels of a spate of reports of a similar
beast lurking in Carnie Woods, Westhill.
Phyllis and Loretta made the shock sighting while out cycling.
They saw a large black object in a barley field near Parkhill
Nurseries at around 7.45pm.
"I really couldn't believe what I was seeing," said Phyllis, 55.
"It was a large black cat that was bigger than a dog."
The day-centre cook added: "It was around 500 yards away and we
watched it for around four minutes."
The pair had previously read an account of a similar sighting in a
story in the Evening Express.
"We even used to joke about whether we would spot the big cat," said
Phyllis, of Potterton.
"I never dreamed it would actually happen."
