Report from Aron Bowers
NB. I recieved the information in good-faith from a friend/colleague of mine. No reason to question the witnesses sincerity, only made known to our mutual friend, who on knowing my interset in the subject passed the following details on. Anonymity required.
Date: Last week in May 2003
Location: Roadside near Dunphail, by Forres, Morayshire.
Description: Gentleman concerned lives in Moray.
Nearing the village of Dunphail, noticed carcase of an animal nr roadside.
On approach noticed it was feline in nature.
Stopped the car and got out to examine the beast, clearly killed by glancing blow by car/lorry.
Recognised the creature as the Eurasian lynx, as exhibited in Kincraig Highland wildlife park.
(Amazingly!) He got back into the car and drove home, thinking little more about it. On arriving home, on questioning to himself the rarity and oddity of such an exotic animal, he decided to return to the area to retrieve the corpse.
(As is often the case) On returning to the scene, the carcase had been removed by person(s) unknown.
The witness is adamant the cat was the Eurasian lynx, of no doubt since he had the chance to touch and examine it.
