Report from Chris Smith
Date and Time: Monday 13 th January 2003 at aprrox 6.30 pm
Location: on the road between Garmouth and Lhanbryde in the Muir of Lochs (Morayshire)
Description: its head was about 2 1/2 feet high and it was brownish on top and got lighter as it went down to its feet it had a smaller head than a panther not sure how long tail was
Movement: I was going towards Garmouth from Lhanbryde just past the Calders farm I saw something at side of road so I slowed down because I thought it was a deer but as I got closer I noticed it was not a deer it was carrying something in its mouth dead animal of some sort, it was going at a steady pace in the direction of Lhanbryde.
Duration: about 2 mins
Distance: same level I was in car and it was at the other side of road so I would say I was about 7-8 feet away for it
Weather: it was at night reasonably dry
Reference: I have written to you before about black panthers that had been spotted in the Kingston, Morayshire area of Scotland
