Report from Reuel Chisholm
The second big cat sighting in Aberdeenshire in recent days was reported yesterday, after a large black beast was seen prowling near a golf course.
Insch course worker Dave Wilson, 57, said he saw a puma-like animal as he was tending to the green. He described it has having as being jet black, with a cat-like face and a long curling tail.
"I had just completed the raking of the 9th green," he said. "There's a small field between the Kennethmont road and the railway, and I saw a huge beast walking along quite casually.
"It was in the open for about a minute, then it disappeared. It appeared again on the railway line sniffing around a pole. It didn't walk like a dog."
Mr Wilson signalled to nearby golfers, who managed to catch little more than a glimpse of the animal's head.
On Saturday, Belhelvie woman Kathleen Smith was startled when a similar animal raced out in front of her car and into woods near Dyce.
