Report from Chris Smith
From Name: Andy Tunnicliffe
Date and Time: 8/8/03 13:20 (approx)
Location: Redmoss, Pentland Hills just outside Balerno in Edinburgh.
Description: Its body was about 3 foot long and it's shoulder was about 4 foot tall. I didn't get a good look at it's tail. Its head was definatly not that of a dog, it didn't have a snout. Its head was fairly rounded. It had pointed ears. The animal was black and very powerfull looking. much stockier than a dog, also much larger than any dog I have seen. A friend was with me and he also saw it.
Movement: It didn't move much in front of me. It moved from behind thick under growth into a clearing, it didn't seem to be stalking us and it was at that point I'm a fraid to say we ran away.
Noise: We heared it rustling in the bushes next to the narrow road that we were walking along. It sounded like something big so we stopped and looked into the bushes
Duration: only a few seconds
Distance: We were level with it and about ten feet away, very close
Weather: It was one of the hottest day of the year so far. Very bright, the cat was amongst the trees and bushes, fairly dark with the shadows.
Other_witnesses: One.
Reference: searched Google
Additional: I have e-mailed Fran regaurding this but looked at your web site today and didn't see anything about our sighting, please forgive me if this is duplicate information.
We have no evidence of the account, although we did report it to the near by SSPCA office who advised us to report it to the police.
We also reported it to the Scotsman news paper, they never got back to us though.
