Report from George Redpath
About 10p.m., on Saturday, 18/01/03, witness and his girlfriend, were driving west on the A91, between Dollar and Tillicoultry, when a huge black cat ran over the road in front of their vehicle. They were just leaving Dollar at the time and travelling slowly. The cat ran from the north side of the road and went through an open gateway into a field on the south. (Apparently there is a chicken farm near there where dead chickens etc. may be dumped prior to uplifting) The cat passed between two vehicles and was only about nine feet in front of the witnesses car.
Witnesses describe the cat as "a black panther", 2 feet in height, body 3 feet long and a very long, thick tail.
Witnesses girlfriend was apparently so shocked by the incident she was reduced to tears.
G.R.
With regards to my sighting, it was on Saturday evening 18th January
around 10pm while travelling on the A91 Dollar to Tillicoultry road
in my car.
A large black cat ran right in front of the car about 3 metres in
front of the bonnet. The height was slightly larger than a Labrador
Dog but longer with a tail about the same size as the body and thick
I noticed the stealthness of its movements, it was very distinct and
fully believe this to have been a Black Panther. I telephoned
Central Scotland Police on Monday and they said they had 2 other
sightings reported. I also reported this to George Redpath.
Today I visited the area with my uncle and went in search of any
evidence. We discovered a footprint which may have been from a back
foot as it was smaller than it would be for a front paw and appeared
to be cat like. The print was around 12cms from back to front and
around 8cms wide. I took a photograph of this with a ruler placed
beside it. I shall keep you informed when this is developed. I
shall be returning to the area which I know very well at weekend and
will keep you all posted.
