Report from Mike Inglis
I'd like to report a large cat sighting.
It happened around 2 weeks ago, when I was walking my wee dog on the golf course near where I live.
I was on the westhill golf course, to the west of Aberdeen, about 2:30pm - 3pm, on a wednesday. It was just a few days before I was due to go back to university.
I came out of my house, across the road, and under the fence which leads onto the 13th fairway. I normally walk up to the left, toward the 13th green, and then higher up the fairway before doubling back. I was in a rush that day, so I turned to the right, and started heading back toward the 13th tee. I wasnt planning on being out for much more than 10 -15mins. There was still alot of snow on the ground as well, and so staying low, on the flatter parts of the golf course made it easier for me to walk.
As I headed toward the 13 th tee, and the land to the left of me started to flatten out, I got a good look of a large animal bounding across one of the fairways further up the hill, and off into the bushes at the side of the course. This 'animal' was the size of an alsation. Against the snow, it was jet black, sleek, with a long flowing tail out behind it. My walk normally would have taken me up round those bushes, but I felt very uneasy, and decided to head back towards the house. It lept across the ground like a large cat. no doubt about it. it did not move like a dog, and I waited on the lower slopes for quite a while waiting to see if it had been a dog, and if its owner was around. the animal never reappeared, and no other person was seen, in all the time I was watching.
I have read about big cat sighting before, but in the last week, there has been reports in the P&J, which have convinced me to write in. I am an animal lover, and I do watch alot of wildlife programmes. basically, I know the difference between the movement of a dog, and the movement of a cat.
It scared the living daylights out of me.
I'm 23 years old, and a student in Aberdeen.
My name is Anthony.
Thanks for reading this report. maybe someone will take my sighting seriously.
