Report from Mike Inglis
A lady phoned me on Sunday night late on. She stays near St. Boswells in the Borders and has a large walled garden 8" feet high. Twice last week, the previous Sunday and then again on the Wednesday she lost all her female Turkeys whom met a "Horrific" death according to her.
She has checked the garden for forced entry as she thought it may have been a fox or badger responsible but there are no signs of burrowing or forced entry so whatever was responsible came over the wall.
All the Turkeys were killed in a similar way a large bite from their backs and the heads and necks torn off, a couple she described as plucked oven ready.
She recently lost other wildfowl ie Muscovy ducks as well and her dogs have been very aggitated in the last couple of weeks.
On Sunday morning a 10 year old boy who is staying in nearby holiday homes owned by the lady saw a Big Black Cat just behind the cottages. The cat was in the area of Dryburgh Bridge and Dryburgh Abbey on Sunday morning and had been seen a week previous on the Monteviate Estate near Jedburgh.
The lady found a large area of Wild Garlic crushed behind her property as if an animal had been lying there and is understandibly very nervous.
She will contact me later this week and straight away if anything occurs. I've also suggested she contact the local police and tell them we suggested this.
