Large black cat seen near Portmore Loch

About 2140 hours on Friday, 28/06/2002, a male witness was driving on the A703 road, between Eddleston and Penicuik, just west of Portmore Loch, when a big Black Cat walked slowly over the road about 60 yards in front of his vehicle.
The cat is described as having a body length of 4 feet and stood about 2 feet high. It had a very long tail which turned up at the tip.
Witness is a keen sportsman, shooting and fishing and has kept dogs all his life. He is in no doubt that he saw a huge cat.
