Report from Chris Smith
My congratulations go to the lynx which has made a bid for liberty in the hills of Kirkcudbright. Officialdom will try to trap it or kill it. What it merits is not a bullet but a companion.
Lynx will fit perfectly into an ecological niche. They are the fox's only natural predator.
The Dumfries tourist bodies need to appreciate the huge appeal of these fine beasts roaming their countryside.
As the lynx strikes a noble pose, could it not be adopted as a mascot by the lone Scottish Tory MP?
