Report from George Markie
A lynx which escaped from a wildlife park in Scotland has been recaptured.
The cat had been missing from Kirkcudbright Wildlife Park in Dumfries and
Galloway since November 25.
It was spotted around 8.30am today and caught in a trap at Cannee Farm,
Kirkcudbright.
Wildlife park officials believe the lynx stayed in the local area during its
period of freedom.
Members of the public had been asked to report any sightings, but the cat was
not considered a danger unless cornered.
Experts expected it would head for forest areas and stay clear of towns and
villages.
A police spokesman said today: "The lynx is a little leaner than it was but is
otherwise none the worse for its adventure, and is now safely back in its pen
at the wildlife park."
Fawn-coloured with black tufts on its ears, the lynx is about the size of a
Labrador.
