Report from Chris Smith
A lynx which escaped from a Scottish wildlife park last month has
been recaptured.
The wildcat, which is about the size of a labrador and has black
tufts on its ears, was reported missing from the Kirkcudbright
Wildlife Park, Dumfries and Galloway.
It was spotted at 0830 GMT on Friday and caught in a trap at Cannee
Farm, Kirkcudbright.
Wildlife park officials believe the lynx stayed in the local area
during its period of freedom.
A police spokesman said: "The lynx is a little leaner than it was but
is otherwise none the worse for its adventure, and is now safely back
in its pen at the wildlife park."
Experts had predicted the animal would head for forest areas and stay
clear of towns and villages.
Police did not believe the lynx was a danger to the public but warned
them not to approach it and report any sightings.
