Between 10:00 hours yesterday, Monday 25 and 10:00 hours this morning, Tuesday 26 November 2002, a wild Lynx cat escaped from Kirkcudbright Wildlife Park. This cat is not considered to be a danger to the public unless cornered.
It is anticipated that it will head for forest areas and will stay clear of towns and villages.
Members of the public are advised not to approach the animal or to try and capture it should they see it but to report any sightings immediately to the police at Kirkcudbright on 01557 330600 or at any police station.
The Lynx is described as fawn in colour, with black tufts at its ears. It is about the same size as a labrador dog.
