Report from Phil Crosby
This morning I saw what I think was a large cat.
This evening I found your website on the subject and thought I would tell u about it.
I'm fairly good at spotting such things in the sense that I have an interest in birdwatching and wildlife in general, so I know what I am looking at.
Anyway. it was at 08:30 this morning , Saturday 27 July.
I was driving from Linlithgow up towards the M8 motorway. The road is the A706.
This link shows the area, and just above where it says Brunton Farm there is a straight stretch of road.
It would be about 40 yards in front of me and emerged from the hedgerow on my right and crossed the road and disappeared into the growth on the other side of the road.
At first I thought it was a fox.... but this animal was slightly bigger than a fox, had a more browny appearance than a fox, and had a long round tail.... no bush. It moved with a lope which I thought was cat like rather than a dog type of movement.
Unfortunately it didn't stop and look at me so I just got a side view and it was fairly quick... but not fast.. I did get a good look at it.
Its not a bit of road that's easy to stop on so I didn't stop and anyway I was going to work and didnt have time to stop and investigate.... I doubt if I would have seen it again anyway.
If you want any more info let me know.
Looking around your site.... very good btw..... I noticed this foto attached.
The animal I saw looked very similar in colour and shape to the smaller of these 2 cats.
Although I would say it was bigger than this one shown.... but not as big as the adult in the picture !
Hard to say what size these ones in the picture are, but definitely the colouring and features of the smaller one seem close to what I saw.
