Report from George Markie
MYSTERIOUS large cats, possibly pumas, have been seen roaming the Ayrshire countryside again.
Ayrshire mysteries researcher, Mark Fraser says that there has been a spate of sightings over the last few weeks.
He reports that three people recently saw a large puma like creature at a farm near Galston. It was just yards from the back door.
It is described as being about the size of a large German Shepherd dog, with a long tail and tufts of fur on its ears.
A couple driving near Fenwick saw a large cat with what they described as 'powerful legs' running across fields. They saw the creature for about ten minutes and said it was very sleek and shiny and moved in a cat-like manner.
A large black, panther-type cat has also been seen near Stewarton recently. About half a mile from Cunningham Watt Park in a wooded area, a man saw a black panther-type animal.
In the same area, a man walking his dog saw what he described as a Lynx on the path 25 feet away.
They described it as Labrador-size, with pointed ears and quite stocky or obviously well fed.
Near Craigie three people recently saw a tawny or fawn coloured cat described as a Puma.
