Police were called to investigate strange noises Residents of a Scottish town have been warned to be on the lookout or a large cat-like animal with yellow eyes which was spotted by police.
Officers sighted the unidentified creature in Ardrossan when they were called to investigate reports of "unusual noises".
A spokesman for Strathclyde Police said: "On arrival officers observed an animal with a dark coat, approximately 3ft tall with yellow eyes.
"On seeing the activity the animal moved off into undergrowth.
"Members of the public are asked to be vigilant and any sightings of the animal to be reported to the police. The animal should not be approached."
Police were called out to Aitken Place in the west coast town on Monday morning.
They had been asked to investigate what were described as "unusual screeching sounds".
The spokesman added: "As far as I am aware it seems to have been some sort of wild animal.
"There are no wildlife parks that we are aware of that it could have escaped from."
The incident was the latest in a series of unexplained sightings of wild animals or cat-like creatures in various parts of Scotland.
