Report from George Markie
Just a quick note about something that may interest you and Mike.I see a lot of Bin Lorry drivers and other drivers who drive back and forward all day with various skips or containers. One such driver stopped to have a bit of a blether today with me and in doing so I picked up what might be a piece of relevant information although it would have to be verified by him sometime.
What he was saying was that he sometimes spends his dinner breaks at a quarry where he takes these containers and I blatantly blurted out words to the effect "You've not seen any black cats have you in the vicinity of the quarry ?" to which he replied "funny you should ask for there was a time recently a black beast dashed in front of the lorry," to which he added it may have been a cat.
Where did he see the sighting well from what I can gather near the road to the quarry which is "Cunmount Road", near Newbigging, just off the Drumsturdy Road, in actual fact it is Newbigging Quarry he goes to each day, and where he sits having his dinner, the interesting point here is that its not a million miles from the farm "Shank Of Omachie", the Monifieth Laws, Kingennie and Downie, not to mention Ethiebeaton, this driver was also hinting that the size of the quarries at Newbigging are quite vast and the terrain might make good a home for such a beast as our cat, this may or may not be a point worth investigating sometime.
