Sighting from C. Palmer
Big cat seen in Rheindown Forest Beauly at 10.15 am Today.
Mr J.T. was walking two Jack Russells in the woodlands when a large cat crossed the path about 20 meters ahead of him.
The dogs were on leads. He walks the dogs there at least three times a day , and this was the first time he had seen the Big Cat.
He said "We have two other dogs which my step father takes for walks the two older dogs also go to the woods for walks, but now they will just have their exercise in the fields, and not into the woods.
The local police have been advised of the sighting.
There are alot of crofts and livestock in this area.

In answer to your questions:
1) Cat was fawn/ brown
2) It was a Puma
3) Witness thought at first that it was a deer. Therefore he approached it down wind . The dogs did not realise what was happening, as the cat sped off within seconds, and was not seen by them as it was in a clearing surrounded by deep undergrowth.
4) No recent sightings in locality, but a Puma was captured some years ago by a farmer, about 4 miles from this sighting. It was taken to the Highland Wild Life Park at Newtonmore, and died of old age. It can be seen stuffed at Inverness Museum
I will be pleased to pass on any info on sightings in this area of the Highlands.
Regards
David
