Report from George Markie
Sir,
I would be grateful if, through the columns of your newspaper, I can make clear the witnessing by my mother and I of the sighting of the "big cat" near Heldon Hill, Pluscarden, on Sunday, November 11.
The creature we saw was no cross between a domestic and wild cat. I would not have gone to the trouble of reporting such a matter. The feline that we did see, and which unfortunately disappeared before I had time to grab my camera, was more the species of the puma/cougar feline family.
I have seen common wild cats frequently over the years during my travels. The feline we witnessed at Heldon Hill was very much larger, about three feet in length and about 18 inches in height, and did not resemble a domestic/wild cat.
Yours etc,
CHARLES MACDONALD
