Report from Chris Smith
Ms Doris Moore was attacked by an animal (but most likely not any species of cat) on 11 th January 2002, therefore this sighting probaly took place late in 2001
With reference to the black cat sighting (Evening Express, September 27).
In 2001 my wife and I saw a black cat in the Insch area. We were
travelling along at night time with snow drifts up each side of the
road. The road we were on had trees either side and about 300 yards of
straight road. As I turned into this section of road with high beam on
I saw a black cat like animal in the middle of the road. My family
asked what it was.
But I didn't know, the animal was not small or dog like due to the
sleekness and length of tail. We had a good view and on reflection I
would say it was a black panther type of cat.
A local family said there had been other sightings in that area.
A couple of weeks later I read of a woman that had been attacked in a
steading in the same area.
I only hope that no child or anyone else is harmed by this wild animal
before it is caught.
