16 th November 2001. Bedrule, between Jedburgh, Hawick and Bonchester Bridge.
'Large cat, disappearing into the undergrowth at the side of the road. Coat: short, black, reddish tinge.Top back rounded and hind legs angular and well muscled.
Tail long - about 2 feet I guess covered in short black hair with a rounded tip and possibly about 2-3 inches in diameter.
The tail hooked down and then to one side. No feathering on tail or legs and no white markings. Head and forequarters not seen.
Report of similar animal on hills above Hawick within last few weeks.'
