Report from Chris Smith
Location; East Kilbride G74
Midnight sighting of what appeared to be a large cat seen in adjacent field was observed looking back at me when lit up by a powerful hand held spotlight.
I was following the glare of its eyes for over twelve to fifteen minutes and was joined by a neighbour who was alerted by my sweeping beam (1 MW candle power) It was standing in grass which was up to a metre high and its head was above it. We walked towards it and it just stood with large amber eyes staring back. We got to 90 yds from it then it shot up a hill in about 3 seconds to about 75yds away - then slipped into the Calderglen Country Park.
Previous sighting some 15 years ago was of a black panther type of cat This was tackled by my dog but when he would not go into the wooded area we saw the large cats eyes which looked about 8" apart it then ran out onto the path about 25yds away and went off into the housing area we live in. I went back with a torch and found a large pudding shape dung pile which had small bits of bones through it. Unfortunately it rained very heavily that night and as I did not pick up the sample I had only the sighting to speak about (dogs dont talk !!)
