Report from Mike Inglis and George Markie
Location: Blackcraig Forest between Ballintuim and Bridge of Cally Perthshire. Coniferous forest on a hillside. Area is reasonably remote with the odd isolated cottage on the edge of wood.
Weather: Nice, bright, dry summer's evening.
Description: Observed from a distance of 120 yards. It came out of the forest and across the track which was about 8 yards wide.
All black, 3ft long excluding tail, as long as a German Shepherd but not as tall Approx 18" high.
Tail was 2 ft in length and the head was "blunt rather than pointed"
Its movement was "steady but determined. Stomach low to the ground"
The sighting lasted 10-15 seconds.
"When I saw the animal I clearly remember the hair on the back of my neck standing up and I instinctively picked my dog ( a small terrier) up so it wouldn't chase after what I had seen.
