Report from George Markie
A large beast with a similar description to that spotted in different parts of East Lothian over the past few months, has been sighted on the outskirts of Haddington.
Robert Clapperton, 72, of Monkrigg Place, was relaxing at home on Wednesday afternoon when he saw the beast in the fields across the road from his house.
"It was just roaming about and as I watched it came over to the grassy area just in front of my house, then wandered off," he said. "I didn't know what to do and I just stood there wondering what it was. I have never seen anything like it before."
The beast was described as being the same size as a large alsatian and was a light brown colour with a long black mane.
The animal could be the same one that was spotted in Ormiston and outside Haddington earlier this year. At the time staff at Edinburgh zoo said that the animal could be a large feral cat and warned people not to approach it.
