Report from George Markie
A GUARD on patrol at a farm near Haddington claims to have made the third sighting of a "big cat" in East Lothian.
The security guard was keeping watch at Beanston Mains Farm when he said he saw "a large puma-like creature".
However, when the guard turned on his headlights to get a better look at the animal it fled.
The other two reports came from a woman who saw a "big cat" in a field in Limeylands Crescent, Ormiston.
Elaine Ainslie, 47, was walking her dog in the field near her home when she saw what she described as a sleek, black animal, with some white on its coat.
Ms Ainslie reported spotting the creature again in a field near George Crescent a few days after the first sighting.
Police have warned people to be on their guard and not approach the creature.
