Report sent to Scottish BigCats
I thought that this might interest you. My friend and I were returning home along the A76 Kilmarnock to Cumnock road on Wednesday last (Hallowe'en) when just outside the village of Mauchline a large black feline animal dashed across the road in front of the car. We did not see it come from the right but caught it in the car headlights as it ran into the verge on the left of the car. We missed hitting the animal by inches and both of us got quite a fright.
We are positive that this was not a dog, it was feline in its movement, and it was far too big to be a domestic cat being more the size of a small labrador dog as stated in other sightings.
Both my friend and I are interested in Big Cats in the UK and are aware that there have been sightings in Ayrshire but, to be perfectly honest, neither of us expected this to happen to us and were actually left shaken by the experience with a "what have we just seen?" feeling.
Strangely enough not one of our friends who has heard of our experience has doubted that what we saw was a "big cat" instead all believing that they do exist in our area.
