Reoprt from Chris Smith
From an email sent 4 th September 2000:
Having only just got on-line, I'm fascinated to find your site. I notified Mr Quentin Rose - the local big cat expert here in Gloucestershire, where I live, with the following sighting. Now that I have found this site, here are the details.
17/1/2000 near Strathdon north of Ballater at about 6.00 pm.
I was driving back from the north coast where I had been surveying Whooper Swans when a Lynx crossed the road in front of me. It was well within the range of the headlights but far enough ahead for me not to brake hard It was a tawny animal, very deep in girth, short in length with a short tail and ear tufts. It ran steadily across the road in no particular hurry and disappeared into open moorland but with surrounding woodland. It gave the impression of a chunky animal and was about the size of a full grown labrador dog.
