Report from Mark Fraser
Motorist just passing Failford after having left Mossblown, stopped sharply as the car in front braked to avoid hitting a black, cat-like creature crossing the road in front of them.
As large as a dog with a long tail.
The same witness who works and lives on a farm, mentions that three weeks ago while helping the farmer they came upon some large pad prints in the mud, they were not sure what animal had made them as they were rather unusual.
They measured across 3 to 4 inches, although they were splayed in the mud a little, making them look a little larger than they actually were.
In June, a motorist driving across the Fenwick Moors, saw a black, very large 'puma' with a long tail near Symington.
