Argyll: Single track road approaching Kilberry, the time being around midnight. The witness saw the animal first on the right hand side of the road and as he approached in his car the cat jumped into the middle of the road and then away into fields on the left, clearing 20 feet in two bounds. He describes it as slightly bigger than a Labrador, "pure black and shiny."
The tail sticks in his mind, instead of it being thick at the base and tapering away at the tip, it was the other way round being thick at the bottom and tapering away when it reached the body of the animal, "like a skittle."
The caller went on to say that in 1974 the Oban Circus went bankrupt and there are rumours that some of the animals had been released!
