Report from George Markie
Large black cat sighted at Cotside of Barry Farm by golf course greenkeeper Bill Duncan on Tuesday 21st of April. He said "The cat has been seen around the golf course on numerous occasions, but this was the first time that I had seen it.
"The sheep were running wild in the farmer's field and I could see a big black cat chasing after them."
Mr Duncan and some friends went down to the field for a closer look but the cat had gone. Farmer, Jim Clarke was informed of the sighting and the following morning found the remains of a lamb. Mr Clarke ruled out an attack by a dog as the victim was a healthy and fast half grown lamb weighing 15 to 20 kilos. He also added that farm workers had noticed strange droppings on his land.
