Big cat attacks car
11 th September 1996
Male motorist driving along the back road from Galston to Ayr and was nearing Fiveways, driving fairly slowly, when the witness spotted a large cat-like animal by the side of the road which looked as though it was going to cross. As he passed the animal pounced/lunged at the driver's side window, actually smashing the wing mirror. He was frightened. It was roughly the size of a Golden Retriever, light tan in colour with a long tail. The witness also states that it was definitely not a dog as it had cat like facial features.
When he first saw the animal it was apprx. two and a half car lengths from him, which is why he slowed down, dipping his headlights as he did so.
J is 81yrs of age he has never seen anything like this before.
J's neighbour also says that on the 9 th her car was also attacked by a large animal on the same stretch of road.
