Report from Chris Smith
A motorist claims he has made the latest sighting of a large cat-like beast in Breich.
The driver spotted the beast on the A704 West Calder to Forth road in the early hours of Wednesday morning. As he approached the cat it took to its paws and made off. The driver, who does not want to be named, described the giant black cat as being 4 ft long, 18 ins in height, having a short snout, small ears and strong musular legs.
He reported the sighting to the police who combed the area in a hunt for the beast, but without success. A police spokesman said: "It isn't impossible that this could be the return of the elusive giant cat that was seen strolling across Linlithgow golf course last year."
