Report from Chris Smith
Back in April 1994, myself; wife; son and a young girl who had just returned from an African holiday and had visited the Shimba national park were walking the forest tracks along Carron Reservoir when we heard this throaty big cat type growl.
We heard the animal in the under growth following us. The young girl panicked and said it sounded like the Leopard she seen and heard in Africa just days before.
To dispel her fears I crawled into the under growth (I was an unbeliever at this time) I didn't see the animal but I heard it and I came to the conclusion that it was large as I could see bushes moving.
I came out of the undergrowth and the animal followed us for about 10 long minutes purring loudly before it went away silently.
I know it was early April as the fishing had not started on the reservoir. I have related the story to various people but not to the police as I thought they would think I was mad.
