Report from Aron Bowers
Witness : Miss I. (veterinary colleague and friend)
Date: c.1992-93, cannot be more specific.
Location: Single track road, between villages Cummingston and College of Roseisle, Morayshire
Description: driving North towards the coast, forced to emergency brake the car, as a large black cat sped accross road in front of her.
Fearing she had hit the cat, she got out of the car to look for the cat, near adjacent bushes + low wall. In searching for the initial cat, something caught her eye peripherally, turned to left to see ANOTHER cat leap into the road from where the initial one appeared, and then sit in the road c.12 feet away.
Fear overwhelmed her, on standing straight, the second cat was spooked into taking off - leaping the wall and vegetation, and disappearing in the gorse to meet up with the initial cat.
2 cats witnessed within seconds, likely a mating pair??
Colour of cats -pure black.
Shape: Lean, narrow waists, short stocky necks, small heads, small ears, not protrubent.
Height at shoulder: c.30 inches
Body length: c.36 inches
Tail length: c.30-36 inches
Witness described the cats to me as being akin to cheetahs in relation to their appearance, certainly very agile, cat like bounds accross road, through vegetation.
Maximal distance: 12 feet (second cat)
Described as unmistakably feline in nature.
