Screams heard like that of a puma

1991 - 1992

From 1991-1992 while station with the U.S. Navy I was living in Inellan, near Dunoon. My wife and I had heard a loud cry (scream) on two different occasions both times around dusk. Prior to hearing the cry (scream) my wife was walking on a path surrounded by undergrowth and she sad that she felt as if someone saw watching her (perhaps it was the same animal that we would later hear (scream).

I have lived in areas of California where cougars (Pumas) where sighted and paw prints where often found. I also have heard the screams of the big cat both in zoos as well as in the California hills. The scream is similar to what I heard while living in Inellan.
