Schoolgirls approached by cat-like creature

In November 1981, two schoolgirls walking to a Brownies meeting near their home at Lochcarron were approached from behind by an animal that sniffed at their legs and then ran off. Although it was fairly dark at the time, both children described the animal as a "dog with a cat's face". They were terrified and ran home in a very distressed state.
