Report from George Markie
24 th July 1980, Achnashellach Forest.
On 24 July at about 3.00 pm an Aberdeen hillwalker was near Achnasellach Forest when he spotted what he thought at first was a stag lying in the heather. However, he realised it was a large-cat like animal when it got up, snarled and then made off into the woods. He described it as about 3 1/2 ft long and 2 1/2 ft high at the hindquarters. It was fawn in colour and definitely of the cat family.
