Report from Chris Smith
12 th November 1979, Maryburgh, Ross-shire
At about midday on 12 November, a railway trackman came face to face with a lioness on the railway track 9 miles from Dingwall on the Garve track. The animal seems to have been as unnerved by the encounter as the man. It bounded over a fence and disappeared into woodland.
On the same day at about 5.00 pm a large cat-like animal was reported in the woodland at Milnafua, Alness, 16 miles from where the railway worker sighted the lioness..
